Project Objectives:
To host a facilitated strategic planning session to establish an industry-wide, collective approach to enhance ag awareness.
Project Description:
The Ag Awareness Committee began in 2005 with a dialogue between the University of Manitoba and MRAC. Currently the committee is made up primarily of industry leaders and supported by MRAC through board representation and staff resources. The need for a coordinated unified approach to ag awareness has never been greater. This project will provide the tools for the committee to develop an achievable plan of action to address the awareness in agriculture (or lack thereof).
Performance Story:
Approximately 20 participants from industry, educational institutions, MRAC and government attended the strategic planning workshop in May 2009. The purpose of the workshop was to determine the next steps forward to articulate a vision of ag awareness for consumers in Manitoba and set clear, attainable, measureable goals.
By consensus, the group agreed a feasibility, business plan and prospectus should be developed to broaden support and enable the establishment of an ag awareness organization. This task will be undertaken by the core group.
