Performance Story:
Approximately 190 animal and feed industry participants, along with government and academia, came together to discuss new and innovative approaches for feeding livestock at the 30th Western Nutrition Conference (WNC) held in Winnipeg, Man. from September 23 to 24, 2009.
The conference focussed on issues and challenges facing western Canadian producers.
This project supported presentations which dealt with the influence and impacts of the bio-fuel sector on agriculture, particularly animal production, feed and crops, and discussed what work needs to be done to allow the ag sector to be commercially viable in the new economy.
These topics were very timely and although these issues were not resolved they provided a forum for thought and discussion. Through this event the conference attendees were informed of the current status of these issues.
